Title: Supt. - Process Mech. Maint. Downstream

Some of your duties will include:
To lead, plan, and control all mechanical maintenance activities for downstream processing facilities, ensuring high equipment availability, reliability, safety, and cost efficiency across concentrate handling, thickening & filtration, flotation circuits, tailings disposal, and reclaim water systems in a large-scale copper & gold processing fixed plant.
1. Maintenance Leadership & Planning
- Lead mechanical maintenance execution for downstream process areas including flotation, concentrate dewatering, thickener mechanisms, filtration systems, tailings & reclaim water facilities.
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies aligned with plant availability and production targets.
- Oversee shutdowns, major overhauls, and capital maintenance projects, ensuring safe execution and minimal production disruption.
- Manage maintenance backlogs, work prioritization, and resource allocation through CMMS (SAP PM or equivalent).
2. Equipment Reliability & Performance
- Ensure mechanical integrity and reliability of critical equipment such as: Flotation cells & mechanisms, Thickeners (rakes, drives, bridges), Pressure & vacuum filters, Concentrate handling systems (chutes, conveyors, pumps), Tailings & reclaim water pumps, pipelines, valves
- Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Monitor KPIs including MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability, and maintenance cost.
3. Safety, Compliance & Risk Control
- Enforce compliance with HSE standards, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), confined space, and lifting operations.
- Ensure maintenance activities meet statutory, OEM, and company standards.
- Actively participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement programs.
4. Team Management & Capability Development
- Supervise and develop Supervisors, Engineers, Planners, and Maintenance Crews.
- Build technical capability in downstream mechanical systems through coaching, training, and mentoring.
- Foster strong collaboration with Process Operations, Electrical & Instrument teams, Metallurgy, and Projects.
5. Budget & Contractor Management
- Control maintenance budgets, spare parts usage, and contractor costs.
- Manage mechanical service contracts, OEM support, and vendor performance.
- Support long-term asset management, lifecycle planning, and capital replacement strategies.
What skills and experience do you need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; Professional certification or post-graduate qualification is an advantage.
- Have 15-18 years of mechanical maintenance experience in large mineral processing plants, preferably copper & gold; Have 3-5 years in a superintendent-level role managing downstream processing equipment.
- Strong exposure to flotation circuits, thickening, filtration, concentrate handling, and tailings systems.
- In-depth knowledge of rotating and static equipment used in downstream mineral processing; Proven experience with SAP PM or equivalent CMMS; Strong understanding of reliability engineering, RCFA, and maintenance best practices; Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, OEM manuals, and technical specifications.
- Have certification in Maintenance / Reliability certification (RCM, CMRP, or equivalent); Occupational safety certification relevant to heavy industry or mining; OEM or specialized training related to flotation circuits, thickening, filtration, concentrate handling, and tailings systems, is preferred.
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and team development capability and cross-functional coordination skills; Strong safety leadership mindset with hands-on field engagement and high safety awareness with a risk-based maintenance mindset; Strong planning, prioritization, and problem-solving capability; Decisive, resilient, and able to perform under high operational pressure; Effective communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills;
- Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
