Title: Supt. - Process Mech. Maint. Upstream

Some of your duties will include:
Responsible for planning, leading, and controlling all mechanical maintenance activities for upstream processing fixed plant facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operation.
This role ensures asset availability, maintenance excellence, workforce capability, and compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
1. Mechanical Maintenance Operations
- Lead mechanical maintenance activities for Crushing, Milling, Pebble Circuit, Pumps & Piping, Screens, and Conveyor systems.
- Ensure plant mechanical equipment achieves target availability, reliability, and throughput.
- Manage planned, unplanned, and shutdown maintenance activities.
- Oversee breakdown analysis, root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and corrective actions.
2. Maintenance Planning & Reliability
- Drive preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
- Collaborate with Planning & Reliability teams to optimize PM strategies and task lists.
- Support implementation of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure spare parts strategy aligns with criticality and plant risk profile.
3. Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead and develop Supervisors, Engineers, Foremen, and Mechanical crews.
- Ensure manpower planning, competency development, and succession readiness.
- Promote strong safety leadership and disciplined execution at all levels.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
4. Safety, Environment & Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE policies, life-saving rules, and permit-to-work systems.
- Lead safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Ensure mechanical maintenance activities comply with statutory regulations and company standards.
- Actively support environmental protection and energy efficiency initiatives.
5. Contractor & Cost Management
- Manage mechanical maintenance contractors and service providers.
- Control maintenance budget, cost efficiency, and contract performance.
- Review and approve work scopes, progress, and contractor deliverables.
- Ensure effective use of maintenance resources and tools.
6. Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination
- Prepare and present maintenance performance reports (availability, backlog, costs, KPIs).
- Coordinate closely with Operations, Reliability, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.
- Provide technical input for plant improvement, modification, and capital projects.
What skills and experience do you need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Have minimum 15-18 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within large processing fixed plant facilities; At least 5 years in a Superintendent / Senior Leadership role in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry.
- Strong exposure to Crushing, Milling, Conveyors, Pumps, Screens, and rotating equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and piping; Solid understanding of maintenance strategies (PM, PdM, CBM, RCM); Experience with CMMS / SAP PM or equivalent systems; Ability to analyze equipment failures and lead RCFA and improvement actions; Strong understanding of shutdown planning and execution;
- Have certification in Maintenance / Reliability certification (RCM, CMRP, or equivalent); Occupational safety certification relevant to heavy industry or mining; OEM or specialized training related to grinding, crushing, or conveyor systems, is preferred;
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and team development capability and cross-functional coordination skills; Strong safety leadership mindset with hands-on field engagement and high safety awareness with a risk-based maintenance mindset; Strong planning, prioritization, and problem-solving capability; Decisive, resilient, and able to perform under high operational pressure; Effective communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills;
- Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
