Title:  Supt. - Shift Maintenance

Some of your duties will include:

To lead and control all shift-based maintenance activities for large-scale processing fixed plant facilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation through effective execution of corrective, preventive, and breakdown maintenance, in compliance with HSE standards, maintenance strategy, and production targets.

1. Shift Maintenance Leadership & Execution

• Lead all maintenance activities during assigned shifts for processing plant equipment.
• Ensure immediate response and effective resolution of plant breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate shift handover, maintenance priorities, and resource allocation.

2. Asset Reliability & Availability

• Maintain high equipment availability for:
• Crushing & Conveying Systems
• Grinding (SAG / Ball Mills)
• Flotation Circuits
• Pumps, Piping & Valves
• Thickener & Tailings Systems
• Supporting utilities and infrastructure
• Ensure maintenance execution aligns with reliability and availability targets.

3. Safety, Health & Environment (HSE)

• Enforce strict compliance with: Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Critical Risk Management (CRM)
• Act as shift leader during emergency and abnormal conditions.

4. Maintenance Planning & Coordination

• Execute approved weekly and daily maintenance plans during shift.
• Coordinate with:
• Operations (Process & Control Room)
• Maintenance Planning & Engineering
• Warehouse & Logistics
• Provide real-time feedback for continuous improvement of maintenance plans.

5. People Management & Capability Development

• Supervise, coach, and evaluate shift maintenance teams.
• Ensure manpower readiness, skill coverage, and discipline during shift.
• Promote strong safety culture, accountability, and teamwork.

6. Reporting & Documentation

• Ensure accurate shift reports covering: Breakdown analysis, Maintenance activities executed, Man-hours and resource usage, Safety observations and incidents.
• Ensure maintenance data accuracy in CMMS (e.g., SAP PM or equivalent).

7. Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring failures and support root cause analysis (RCA).
• Recommend corrective actions to improve reliability, safety, and cost efficiency.
• Support shutdowns, inspections, and major maintenance activities when required.

What skills and experience do you need?

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering discipline.
• Have minimum 15-18 years experience in process plant maintenance within: Copper, Gold, or Base Metal Mining; Heavy industries (mineral processing, smelter, power plant); at least minimum 3–5 years in a Superintendent role managing shift maintenance processing.
• Strong understanding of Mechanical & electrical maintenance for mineral processing plants; Breakdown troubleshooting and failure analysis; Preventive & corrective maintenance execution; Proficient in CMMS systems (SAP PM preferred); Strong understanding of maintenance KPIs, asset availability, and reliability concepts.
• Have certification in Maintenance / Reliability certification (RCM, CMRP, or equivalent); Occupational safety certification relevant to heavy industry or mining; OEM or specialized training related to processing fixed plant equipment, is preferred;
• Strong people leadership, coaching, and team development capability and cross-functional coordination skills; Strong safety leadership mindset with hands-on field engagement and high safety awareness with a risk-based maintenance mindset; Strong planning, prioritization, and problem-solving capability; Decisive, resilient, and able to perform under high operational pressure; Effective communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills;
• Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
